Week Six of CSA’s (guess it’s been awhile, eh?)

July 7, 2016

In spite of the drought and having to spend hours watering every day, we still have enough lovely produce for another week of shares.  My niece helps out each week preparing the shares and she takes pictures, so I have a few pictures from the share this week.

Unfortunately, the drought is taking its toll on some things; the cover crop never germinated, seed plantings are delayed, fava beans look pitiful and may fail.  Our heavy clay soils work somewhat in our favor by holding moisture down below, but they also tend to become quite concrete-like when it doesn’t rain for so long.  Most of the weeds are doing just fine, though 😉

We do have a volunteer day this Saturday and our stand should be open for business.  Working day: 9 – 12; stand hours: 10 – 12:30.  Milton might appreciate some help watering and I know there will be weeds to extract from our concrete-like soils.  I’m sure there are other exciting things to do, but you’ll just have to show up to find out!  See you there!

Hello Joan and thanks for your interest in our farm. At this point, we are not taking in any new members. I can contact you in the late winter if that changes.
